We're excited to get back into the Gibson Guitar's Washington DC Showroom for our third installment of New Noise to present ANR and Body Language on Saturday, March 31st. These are two of our favorite bands coming together for an excellent night of live music.

Per usual, we'll have an open bar featuring Titos Vodka cocktails along with Starr Hill beers from 7PM-8PM. Delicious finger foods will be provided by Eat & Smile Foods. And ASCAP will be on hand to drop general music knowledge.

 ANR

ANR is a music-making duo based out of Miami, Florida. The duo consists of Brian Robertson (Keyboards, Vocals) and Michael-John Hancock (Vocals, Drums). In 2010, the duo hunkered down and recorded the Stay Kids album. Influenced heavily by the events of the year, particularly those near to their coastal dwellings, the post-apocalyptic pop record is by far the bands strongest effort to date. The sonic influence of childhood heroes Brian Wilson, Prince, and Keith Emerson as well as the music of the psychedelic warriors of today are very evident therein and continue to inspire the band as they work on new releases and remixes in 2011. The album has gained praise from the NME, Guardian, XFM, Huffington Post, Paste Magazine and Radio 1 DJ’s.

Onstage, the pair add a rawer dimension to their songs, including live drummer Luke Moellman. Pummeling through sets with a louder, more virtuosic style than one might expect from simply listening to the records, revealing their love of American punk rock and the British and German progressive acts of the 1970‘s. The group is also actively involved in the South Florida music and arts community, organizing shows and aiding the efforts of local peers with production, engineering and scoring film and video art.

BODY LANGUAGE

Busy saving the city from the brick wall arm crossing and the casual head nods, Brooklyn's own Body Language has risen from the DIY venue basements armed with the kinetic dynamite you would expect from the name. Their original music was born from weekly dance party remixes crafted by Grant Wheeler and Matt Young, and graced by the soul stylings of Ms. Angelica Bess. Their efforts, which illustrate...d their arrival into Brooklyn, were delivered in a five track EP called “Speaks".

Since the EP release, Body Language has been touring with Zero 7, Sia and burning holes in New York City dance floors appearing with the likes of Passion Pit, Little Boots, La Roux, School of Seven Bells, Theophilus London and Jimmy Edgar. This beat-driven crusade continued with an highly anticipated appearance at SXSW 2010. Listeners should also expect some wonderful contributions from the trio with the hit, “Work this City”, appearing on Ghostly International's Nocturnal Suite, a free four-part 'Influences' DJ Set, as well as a “Speaks” Remix Compilation, featuring the likes of Toro y Moi, Yes Giantess and Shuttle.
